A special thanks to the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving (www.HFPG.org) for their recent emergency donation of $9,000 for our freezer and $3,000 for the Soup Kitchen!

The Cornerstone Soup Kitchen was founded in 1989 with the "merging" of a local drop-in center founded by Helen Syriac and a weekly, free Friday night meal at nearby Union Congregational Church.  These two faith-based charitable efforts to feed the poor were combined that year, when we purchased our existing property at 15 Prospect Street with the help of a State grant.

Here we are 20+ years later, and we're still at it.  We have been faithful to our mission.  Literally hundreds of thousands of free meals have been served.  We have been, and continue to be, a grassroots "safety net" for thousands of adults and children in temporary need of food, as they overcome their challenges and rebuild their lives.

The Cornerstone Soup Kitchen needs and takes year-round donations of food, paper kitchen supplies, money and volunteer time.  To explore how you can help, please visit the How to Give page today.

The Cornerstone Soup Kitchen is located at 15 Prospect Street in downtown Rockville. Each year, we serve over 40,000 free meals!
As you can imagine, it takes a well-equipped kitchen to prepare the quantity of meals we serve each day.
